As one
of Ecuador’s leading conservation organizations,
Conservación y Desarrollo developed the Smart Voyager
sustainable tourism certification program, which awards its
seal of approval to tour boat operators and hotels in
Ecuador who meet a set of strict conservation standards for
protecting the environment, wildlife and the well-being of
workers and local communities. |
The atmosphere aboard the deluxe Isabela II
is that of a large elegant yacht. It is one of the most luxurious means of
touring the Galapagos Islands. This well-appointed yacht is fully carpeted
and air-conditioned. Its convivial bar / lounge is a popular gathering
place: drinks are set out there for passengers as they return from natural
history excursions in the islands.
The 1083-ton yacht has accommodations for
40 passengers in 20 comfortable outside twin cabins, all with private
shower and toilet. Spacious cabins have plenty of room for storing
belongings. Four cabins have double beds for either single or double
occupancy. Its three public decks include a large salon / bar area, ample
sun deck, spacious dining room, and a separate reading and game room. The
highly trained crew of 27 includes three multilingual naturalist
guides,
who lead smaller groups for Galapagos island visits.

"The Isabella II was more than
we expected. It was clean, the food was great, the crew
could not have been nicer. The Captain, waiters, boat handlers,
cabin personnel were all wonderful. If anyone is interested
in seeing wildlife in its natural habitat Galapagos is the place
to go. We really do want to go back for a longer stay in the
Galapagos. Being wildlife lovers it was an experience we will
never forget." - Daisy Rodriguez, USA
