Your flight from Quito or Guayaquil lands at
either Baltra
or San Cristobal airports in the Galapagos
Islands. The Baltra airport was originally constructed by the U.S. military during World War II as a base to protect the Panama Canal from enemy attack. During this period most of the indigenous fauna of the island was exterminated.
Land iguanas have only recently been successfully re-introduced and can be seen
near the Baltra airport. Baltra is currently an Ecuadorian naval base and is not within the boundaries of
Galapagos National Park. The San Cristobal airport is just a few minutes outside
of the town of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno (the Capital of the Galapagos).

You are met at the Galapagos airport by the naturalist guide from your
yacht or ship who will guide you on your journey through the magnificent Galapagos Islands.
A short bus ride takes you from the airport to the dock where your boat and crew await you for your
trip of a lifetime...

From the dock you get a glimpse of what your trip will be like. Frigate birds soar high above the azure blue bay while
blue-footed boobies dive like shooting arrows from the heights and submerge after fish below.

After arriving aboard your yacht or ship you receive a warm welcome from the crew and a brief introduction to etiquette and safety aboard and while ashore on the islands.
This helps us protect these unique islands and their wildlife. Don't forget your hat and
sunscreen... and camera! This afternoon we set sail for a small cove not far from
Baltra...
