Evan with his friend Estevan and his calf
|

|
Otavalo,
Imbabura
I went next door and there were some chicks. Estevan
liked going over there to see the animals. I saw some pigs. We saw a small calf that was
really cute. For breakfast one day we had some fresh eggs from the chickens and we had the
foot of a chicken in our soup. We drank some corn chicha at Antonio's house.
I really wanted a charango and when we went to Ecuador
we got together and slept over at Fernando's and we got a charango. I like the charango
and I still play it sometimes. It reminds me of the men in white pants.
| School Notes - Otavalo is located just north of the
equator in the province of Imbabura. It is surrounded by the volcanoes of Imbabura,
Cotacachi and Cayambe. The people of Otavalo are famous for their Saturday market,
tapestries, embroidery, blankets, music, food and hospitality. Kanatan Aski (the men in
white pants) plays traditional and contemporary Andean music. |
